Fiorentina in talks for Sportiello

Serie A outfit Fiorentina are negotiating the purchase of Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The 25-year-old was surprisingly loaned to Viola in January 2017 and his 18-month spell at Artemio Franchi is set to end.

With the highly rated shot-stopper having impressed at Fiorentina, the club are interested in making his move permanent, but they don’t seem prepared to trigger a €5.5 million purchase clause.

Namely, Fiorentina are trying to secure a discount, although chances are Atalanta will drive a hard bargain.

Marco Sportiello is widely regarded as one of Italy’s most talented goalkeeper and he has so far amassed 117 Serie A appearances.
