Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Fiorentina have opened talks to sign Swedish forward Ola Toivonen from PSV Eindhoven.
Viola plan to sign another striker in January to ensure they have enough cover for Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi and they seem to be weighing up a move for the Sweden international.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player’s agent Mino Raiola has held initial talks with the Serie A side.
With Toivonen’s contract at PSV Eindhoven expiring at the end of the season, Viola are aware they can sign the striker for a nominal fee in January.
The 27-year-old, who was close to joining Norwich this summer, has been searching for a new challenge and he is likely to be interested in a move to Artemio Franchi.
Since joining the Dutch giants from Malmo FF, Toivonen has made136 Eredivisie appearances, scoring 61 goals in the process.
