The agent of Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie has revealed ACF Fiorentina are chasing the singature of the Holland international, Sky Sports understands.
Clasie, 21, made his professional debut while on loan at SBV Excelsior in August 2010.
After just two months at Excelsior, the defensive midfielder was called up to the Holland Under-21 team.
Less than one year later, in July 2011, Clasie made his debut for Feyenoord in a friendly against Spanish outfit Málaga CF, and has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the ranks at the Stadion Feijenoord ever since.
Clasie has made five appearances for Holland since becoming a full senior international last year.
The 21-year-old’s agent Wessel Weezenberg is currently in talks with Fiorentina regarding a potential summer move for the “Dutch Xavi.”
“We talked and we’re still talking with Fiorentina and I can say they are the Italian club that has moved more concretely,” Weezenberg told Calcio Mercato.
“But Jordy has a contract with Feyenoord so Fiorentina need to reach an agreement with them. I know that the two clubs have spoken, but the Dutch leadership decided to postpone any market discussion at the end of the season.
“The Fiorentina project is very interesting, with a game style that would be ideal for Clasie’s technical characteristics that, for example, are very similar to the (David) Pizarro ones.
“The renewal with Feyenoord? At the moment we’re not talking about it.”
Willems signs new PSV deal
PSV Eindhoven left-back Jetro Willems has signed a new long-term contract at the club, temporarily quashing reports linking the Holland international with a summer move to Manchester City, according to Sky Sports.
Willems, 19, is now under contract at PSV Eindhoven until the summer of 2017.
Recent reports have suggested that Willems, who joined PSV on a three-year deal from Sparta Rotterdam in August 2011, could be heading to Manchester City in the summer, with John Guidetti moving to PSV in a swap deal.
However, earlier this week, Guidetti poured cold water on the rumours by insisting he would never play his home matches at the Philips Stadion.
“I will never, ever play for PSV. In the Netherlands, Feyenoord are the only club I would want to play for. Everyone knows that,” Guidetti told AD Sportwereld.
The 19-year-old left-back was the youngest player to appear at the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
“When I came here from Sparta Rotterdam I had not achieved anything,” Willems told the club’s official website. “Now I have already played at the European Championship.”
To this date, Willems has earned eight international caps for Holland.
