Paraguayan defender Gustavo Gomez has emerged as a top target for Serie A outfit Fiorentina, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.
Viola have been on the lookout for defensive reinforcements and the 23-year-old appears to be high on their wish list.
Gomez is widely regarded as one of the leading centre-backs in Argentine elite division, while he can successfully operate on either wing as well.
Having just won the league title with Lanus, the Paraguayan is ready to move to Europe in the summer transfer window and he is likely to welcome the interest from Italian Serie A.
The good news is that Gomez owns an EU passport, and having requested a summer transfer, Fiorentina are confident they will be able to reach an agreement with the player’s current employers.
Gustavo Gomez has nailed down a regular starting berth in the Paraguay national team, and he started all three games for La Albirroja at the 2016 Copa America Centenario.
