Serie A giants Fiorentina are readying an ambitious swoop for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Viola have experienced plenty of problems in the centre of the park of late, with veteran David Pizarro unavailable and the likes of Borja Valero and Alberto Aquilani going through a poor run of form.
As a result, Fiorentina officials have made signing a high-quality central midfielder the priority in the summer transfer window.
It is no secret that PSG’s Marco Verratti remains their primary target, but luring the Italy starlet to Artemio Franchi looks like an impossible task, especially if Viola fail to secure Champions League football.
Therefore, Fiorentina will have to turn their attention to other targets, with Shakhtar Donetsk star Fernando and Udinese midfielder Allan also on their radar.
Viola missed the opportunity to qualify for the Coppa Italia final as they suffered a 3-0 loss to Juventus in the return leg, and they are 11/4 chance to defeat Napoli in Serie A.
