French daily L’Equipe is reporting that Fiorentina and Ajax are closely monitoring Angers defender Fabien Boyer.
Boyer, 21, has been producing some excellent defensive showings for the Ligue 2 side this season and his promising displays have not gone unnoticed.
L’Equipe has learned that the talented defender is currently being followed by Fiorentina and Ajax, with the two clubs likely to materialize their interest at the end of the season.
Groomed in the youth academies of Toulouse and Monaco, Boyer began his professional career at Jura Sud before joining Rennes in the summer of 2011.
After spending one season at Stade de la Route de Lorient, mostly performing for Rennes reserves, he joined Angers on a free transfer last summer.
Boyer has since made 17 Ligue 2 appearances for the club and developed into one of the best central defenders in France’s second division.
The reported interest from some of Europe’s top clubs is a testament to the progress he has made over the last year or so.
