Fiorentina launch assault on Van Wolfswinkel
Serie A high-flyers Fiorentina are readying January bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel, according to La Nazione.
Viola have largely impressed in Serie A following the heavy summer recruitment and they are eager to sign few more players in the winter transfer window.
According to La Nazione, the Artemio Franchi outfit are keeping close tabs on Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
With Luca Toni nearing the end of his career and captain Stevan Jovetic courted by Europe’s top clubs, Fiorentina would prefer to sign another high-quality striker in January.
They really like the Netherlands international and believe they can lure him to Florence in the January transfer window.
Fiorentina have established good relations with Sporting Lisbon when they purchased Matias Fernandez in the summer, which should keep them in good stead for the assault on van Wolfswinkel.
Given that Sporting Lisbon are in a difficult financial situation, it is highly unlikely they would reject a big-money offer from Italy.
Abidal confirms PSG interest
Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has confirmed Paris Saint-Germain are interested in his services.
The veteran defender has just over six months left on his deal at Camp Nou, which has led to speculations linking him with a January exit.
Paris Saint-Germain were believed to be preparing a bid for the left-back, and Abidal now confirms the Saints are indeed interested.
“It is true that PSG were interested in me, but my family feels well in Barcelona and I want to stay,” the 33-year-old said to Lyon TV, during a visit to his former club.
Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed few days ago that the player would be given a new contract once he returned into action.
Eric Abidal resumed training a week ago after spending nine months on the sidelines following a liver transplant.
The Frenchman has so far made 120 La Liga appearances for the Catalans, but has yet to score a league goal.
Valencia keen on Djebbour
French newspaper L’Equipe reports that Valencia are set to launch an assault on Olympiakos striker Rafik Djebbour.
Los Che are looking to sign a back-up for star striker Roberto Soldado and believe the Algerian would be a great addition to the squad at Mestalla.
New Valencia boss Ernesto Valverde knows the player well from his time at Olympiakos and hopes he can persuade him into joining los Che.
Djebbour’s deal at Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he will be available at a bargain price in January.
The player, who has spent most of his career in Greece, has scored a total of 24 goals in just 32 league appearances for the Greek giants.
He has been especially impressive this term, netting 12 times in 11 league fixtures.
Djebbour is an important member of Algeria national team, but his record of 5 goals in 28 caps is far from impressive.
