Fiorentina lead chase for Baselli

Fiorentina are attempting to secure the signature of Atalanta starlet Daniele Baselli, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

New Viola boss Paulo Sousa believes the midfielder would be an excellent addition to the squad at Artemio Franchi and he has asked the club officials to try and bring the Italy Under-21 international to Florence.

Having signed Andrea Bertolacci and with Jose Mauri also set to join, AC Milan have cooled off interest in Baselli, meaning Fiorentina have a good chance to wrap up the deal.

Viola now aim to try and lower Atalanta’s €8 million asking price, but everything suggests the transfer will go ahead eventually .

Daniele Baselli is another exciting prospect to have come out of Italy’s most famous youth academy and he has already shown a great deal of potential.

After returning from a two-year spell with Cittadella, the midfielder went on to make 50 Serie A appearances for Orobici, scoring 2 goals.
