Serie A outfit Fiorentina have begun the search for new central defender that should replace Gonzalo Rodriguez, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Argentine centre-back has been a loyal servant to Viola for five years now, but it appears he has decided to look for a new challenge.
Rodriguez will be out of contract at the end of the season and he doesn’t seem keen on extending his stay at Artemio Franchi.
This is why Fiorentina are in the market for a new central defender, and they have already wrapped up a deal for Serbian youngster Nikola Milenkovic.
Meanwhile, they could also recruit a more experienced stopper, with Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi one of the players on their hit-list.
The 29-year-old has just over a year left on his deal with the Neroverdi, and a summer exit appears on the cards.
Acerbi did well to kick-start his career at Sassuolo, going on to score 10 goals in 111 Serie A appearances.
