Fiorentina president Mario Cognini says Ricardo Montolivo will not be sold in January even though he can leave the club on free next summer.
The Italy international has told Fiorentina that he won’t extend his contract that runs out next summer.
It was, therefore, believed that Viola will try to sell him in January so as to avoid losing him for free next summer, but club president has now ruled out such a possibility.
“I don’t think that Montolivo will go in January,” Fiorentina President Mario Cognini told Rai Tre.
“That’s because it is Fiorentina’s aim to actually reach some important objectives at the end of the campaign.”
The highly rated midfielder is widely tipped to join Milan when his contract expires next summer.
