Dutch newspaper Voetbal International reports that Fiorentina are closing in on Ajax forward Mounir El Hamdaoui.
The Serie A side were on the verge of signing the Moroccan striker last January, but the transfer fell through at the last minute.
Viola chiefs are now determined to avoid similar scenario and are doing everything they can to wrap up the deal.
Voetbal International claims the player’s agent met ten days ago with Ajax financial director Jeroen Slop to discuss his client’s summer exit from Amsterdam ArenA.
Fiorentina are keen on the player who has fallen out with coach Frank de Boer and they are ready to offer the player a three-year deal with an option for another year.
The 27-year-old joined Ajax in a €5 million deal from AZ Alkmaar in July 2010, and enjoyed a good start to his career in Amsterdam, scoring 13 goals in 26 league appearances in the first season.
However, he failed to make a single appearance for the Amsterdammers last season after clashing with coach Frank de Boer.
