Italian outfit Fiorentina have officially released midfielder Matias Fernandez on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder lost his place in the team under Paulo Sousa and spent last season on loan at AC Milan where he only made 13 Serie A appearances.
The Chile international has once again been made surplus to the requirements at Viola and the club management agreed to let him cut loose so that Fernandez could realise his proposed move to Mexican side Nexaca.
Matias Fernandez has been involved in negotiations with Nexaca for a couple of days and with the player agreeing terms with his new club Fiorentina confirmed through a statement published on their official website that the Chilean’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
Fernandez joined Viola from Sporting CP in 2012 and since that time he managed to rack up 131 appearances. During the five years at the Artemio Franchi, the 31-year-old also managed to score seven goals.
