Fiorentina return for Benteke

Serie A outfit Fiorentina are considering a January move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Even with youngster Khouma Babacar impressing up front, Viola are in the market for a new striker considering that Giuseppe Rossi and Filippo Bernardeschi are out injured and Mario Gomez has yet to prove his fitness.

Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested Fiorentina are ready to rekindle their interest in long-term target Christian Benteke, who has struggled for form since returning from injury.

The Belgian has also earned a three-match ban for headbutting Tottenham’s Ryan Mason and he might be interested in leaving English Premier League.

Benteke has had quite an impact since arriving at Villa Park from Genk, having bagged 29 goals in 64 league outings.

The Villans seem to be set for a difficult survival fight and they can be backed at 3/1 to get relegated to the Championship.

No chance he’ll be sold, nor could Fiorentina afford him, and while I like the Italians, I don’t think they’d be his cup of tea.
