Serie A outfits Fiorentina and AS Roma are locked in the battle for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, L’Equipe can reveal.
The Italian shot-stopper is now third choice at Parc des Princes after Alphonse Areola returned from a successful loan spell at Villarreal, and he was left out of the squad for the North American tour.
This clearly suggests that the Saints are ready to offload the experienced goalkeeper, and a return to Italian Serie A appears on the cards.
Sirigu’s representatives have been negotiating a deal with AS Roma, but the two parties have been unable to find an agreement.
Nevertheless, it appears that Fiorentina are prepared to offer the 29-year-old an escape route from Parc des Princes, seeing as how they are not satisfied with the performances of Ciprian Tatarusanu.
The problem is that Viola would prefer a season-long loan, but there is a chance PSG will agree to such an arrangement as they don’t want unhappy players in the squad.
