ESPN is this afternoon reporting that Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic rejected the chance to join Manchester City this summer.
The highly-rated forward was a target for the Premier League Champions and even though Fiorentina were willing to sell, the player wasn’t keen.
It is even being suggested that Jovetic rejected the chance to speak with Juventus, highlighting his loyalty to Fiorentina.
In terms of the deal City are supposed to have offered, it stands at £12m, but the player didn’t let things get too far.
Instead, he wants to stay in Florence and score goals for Fiorentina. Whether he will move on eventually remains to be seen, but until January at least, he will stay right where he is.
The fact that Manchester City were interested in the striker is certainly interesting. It has been known for a while that Roberto Mancini was a fan, but does he need another forward?
It was perhaps the injury to Sergio Aguero that caused the Italian to turn to Jovetic, but as we know, he was left disappointed in his pursuit.
As for Aguero, it is being reported that he is back in training and ready to return for City in the next week or two.
Then, with regards to Jovetic, that is the speculation over. Until January at least.
