Senegalese striker Khouma Babacar is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with Fiorentina, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.
The 21-year-old was surprisingly given a chance to shine this season as Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi were unavailable through injury, and he has grabbed it with both hands.
Babacar went on to score 4 goals in 8 league starts, netting a brace in weekend’s triumph over Udinese.
And even though the talented forward has been linked with a move away from the club, he has confirmed he is perfectly happy to remain at Artemio Franchi.
In light of his recent performances, Fiorentina officials are readying a new and improved deal for the highly rated footballer, which is hardly surprising given that he has less than two years on his current contract.
Despite impressing while on loan at Modena last term, Babacar was widely tipped for another loan spell, but Vincenzo Montella’s decision to keep him in Florence proved to be a good one.
