Fiorentina to extend Tello loan

Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Spanish winger Cristian Tello could remain at Fiorentina at least for another year.

The 24-year-old cut short his loan spell with FC Porto to join Viola until the end of the season, and he did well to nail down a regular starting berth at Artemio Franchi.

Tello managed one goal and three assists in 13 Serie A appearances, and he clearly did enough to extend his stay in Florence.

Namely, Fiorentina have met with Barcelona in an attempt to extend the winger’s loan deal for another year and everything suggests an agreement will soon be reached.

Tello had shown plenty of promise during spells with the Catalans and FC Porto, but his long-term future at Camp Nou is still in doubt and chances are he will not be returning to Catalunya any time soon.

The talented forward was handed his Spain debut in August 2013, but that remains his solitary cap for La Furia Roja.
