(GSM) – Lanus are back in contention in Copa Libertadores Group 4 after a convincing 1-4 victory at Bolivian outfit Blooming on Thursday.
The Argentinians suffered a surprising home defeat by Libertad of Paraguay in their Libertadores opener earlier this month and went on to lose their second match as well, away to Universitario of Peru. These defeats made a win at Blooming the only desirable result.
Initially, it was Blooming to be on the right side of the scoreline with Brazilian Luiz Carlos putting the hosts ahead on nine minutes.
But Sebastian Blanco levelled in the 24th minute, for Santiago Salcedo to make it 1-2 in the 39th.
Diego Lagos then led Lanus to a more comfortable margin in the second half, with goals in the 60th and 76th minutes.
Lanus are in third place in this group with three points from the same amount of games, only ahead of Blooming who now suffered three consecutive defeats. Libertad and Universitario, who both won their first two games share the top spot.
