Flanagan set for new Liverpool deal

Liverpool are ready to offer Jon Flanagan a new, long-term contract with the club, according to the Express.

Brendan Rodgers had been on the lookout for a new full-back, but is ready to stick with the 21 year old as his first choice after his impressive displays for the first team this season, the latest of which saw him likened by the Reds’ boss to Anfield great Steve Nicol.

The England U21 international has made sixteen appearances in all competitions so far this season, and netted his first goal for the club in the 5-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane back in December.

Having not lost in the league in 2014, Liverpool take their title challenge to Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, where they can be backed at 11/10 to score three or more goals, as they did in the reverse fixture at Anfield back in December.
