Gary Caldwell is delighted Scotland could welcome captain Darren Fletcher back for their Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday.

Manchester United midfielder Fletcher was not expected to make Scotland’s clash against Liechtenstein but he has recovered from tonsillitis earlier than expected.

Caldwell believes the possible returns of Fletcher and striker Kenny Miller will be encouraging to the side.

“Darren is our captain, our leader and obviously a massive player for Manchester United and us. It is a massive boost,” Caldwell told reporters.

“For the whole week we counted him out and didn’t think he was going to be available so to have him is going to be a big boost.”

“Also, Kenny is training this morning and having him would be massive as well.”

“They both have over 50 caps and they will bring an experience to the team with regards what you have to do to win in these games, so it is important to have these guys available.”

Caldwell also maintains Scotland will need to be on their guard against Liechtenstein, stating: “It is a big challenge, the game against Liechtenstein can be difficult.”

“They showed in the game at Hampden that they are not a bad side and we are going to have to be ready for them.”

“You have to start with a real tempo, a real desire to go and win the game and put them under pressure as much as you can.”

“It is going to be a night when we are going to have to pass the ball very quickly. We will also have to be patient.”

“Whether it is the first minute or the last minute, we are going to have to keep doing the right things to try to get that goal and win the match.”
