Scotland international striker Steven Fletcher has joined Wolverhampton from relegated Burnley on a club record-equalling fee, the Premier League side confirmed Friday.
Fletcher signed a four-year contract, with the option for a fifth.
The 23-year-old scored eight goals in 35 Premier League games for a Clarets side which suffered relegation straight back to the Championship.
The deal equals the record transfer fee, believed to be 6.5 million pounds (9.5m dollars), spent by manager Mick McCarthy to recruit Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle last summer.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: “We are delighted to complete the signing of Steven Fletcher.
“He was one of Mick’s main targets for the summer and – just like last season with Kevin Doyle – we were able to register our interest early and get the deal done.”
Defender Jody Craddock, 34, has also signed a new one-year deal.
Wolves captain Craddock told the club’s official website, www.wolves.co.uk: “It’s brilliant to get the contract sorted and signed. It’s another year for me at Wolves, which is fantastic.”
