Bayern Munich completed their perfect domestic season by adding the DFB-Pokal trophy to the Bundesliga title on Sunday as they beat Bayer Leverkusen in the final by 4-2. Speaking to the press after the game, head coach Hans-Dieter Flick was asked about the stories linking Thiago Alcantara with departure this summer.
Apparently, the midfielder is keen to leave the club and has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the last few days. Some reports suggest that he has already agreed terms with the new Premier League champions, while others have been told the rumours are ‘unfounded’.
However, Flick said he understood a player’s wish to experience something new at the age of 29, after playing for Barcelona in Spain and Bayern in Germany, and added that it was completely human to feel that way. But he considers himself a positive person and he still hopes he will be able to convince Thiago to stay at the Allianz Arena past this summer.
