French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin could soon be moving back to Marseille.
The highly rated footballer only made a switch to St James’ Park in the summer, but he has so far struggled to prove his worth in English Premier League.
As a result, Newcastle are ready to offload him in the January window and the recent reports suggest he has already agreed a deal with Marseille.
It looks as though Thauvin will arrive at Stade Velodrome on loan until the end of the season, although the Magpies have yet to give the green light.
Namely, they first want to recruit another attack-minded footballer, with Tottenham’s Andros Townsend their number one target.
After enjoying two very successful campaigns with OM, Thauvin went on to start just three Premier League fixtures this season, while making another ten substitute appearances for the St James’ Park outfit.
