Jose Fonte has said that is focused at Southampton despite interest from Manchester United, according to the Mirror.
The Portugal international was linked with a switch to Old Trafford this summer, with the Red Devils failing with an £8m offer.
Fonte’s fellow countryman Jose Mourinho was keen on adding the thirty-two year old’s experience to his back line though the South Coast club had no intention of selling.
The defender has been at St Mary’s for the past six-and-a-half years, racking up two-hundred and sixty-nine appearances, scoring fifteen goals while he was part of the squads that won promotion to both the Championship and the Premier League.
Internationally, the former Crystal Palace man has been capped sixteen times and starred as his country clinched the European Championships in France back in July, beating the hosts 1-0 after extra-time in the final.
