Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing a deal for former Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj, Sky Sports understands.
The USA international has agreed a two year deal and passed his medical, with the signing expected to be announced in due course.
Lichaj moved to Villa from the States in 2007, but didn’t make and appearance for the first team until the 2010/11 campaign, by which time he had had loan spells with Lincoln City and Leyton Orient.
Another loan move, this time to Leeds United in the Championship came in January 2011, before he returned to Villa Park until his release earlier this month.
The 24 year old has also been capped eight times internationally, finishing as a runner up in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
He is set to become Forest’s second signing of the summer, after the club agreed a permanent deal for striker Darius Henderson, who spent the second half of last season at the City Ground on loan.
