Atletico Madrid has a weird season so far. The Spanish club managed to earn Champions League-football last year and to keep its star players at the Vicente Calderon this summer. However, this year manager Abel Resino`s troops fail to win matches. Therefore, the clash with Chelsea on Wednesday comes at a bad moment for Atletico.
Los Colchoneros drew one point from two European matches while Chelsea already gained six points so far.
`We`re ahead of a tough mission,` said striker Diego Forlan at a press conference.
`Chelsea has a team with good players who have played together for a while now, so it`s going to be hard for us.
`But, of course we are looking forward to the match. At the moment we aren`t in our best form, but we`re glad to be able to perform at the Champions League stage.`
Asked about the reasons for Atletico`s bad start of the season, Forlan shook his shoulders and said: `We have started really bad and we are trying to regain our old form.`
`We were a bit tired, but now we are fully motivated for the game against Chelsea.
`We want to perform well against them and we need to get a good result to keep our hopes on progressing to the next round alive.`
