Former Arsenal youngster moves to Evian

Ligue 1 strugglers Evian have announced on their official website that they have acquired the signature of Lorient attacker Gilles Sunu.

The 23-year-old has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with les Roses just before yesterday’s transfer deadline.

Sunu arrives at Evian to increase competition for places up front, with his new side having scored mere 24 goals in 23 league matches.

The talented forward joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2007 from Chateauroux, but only went on to make two competitive appearances for the Gunners before leaving the Emirates in 2011.

Sunu hasn’t quite managed to nail down a regular starting berth at Lorient, and he only scored 6 goals in 76 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.

The youngster will be hoping to kick-start his career at Evian and help les Roses avoid relegation to the second division, even if his new club are now priced at 10/11 to get relegated.
