Cameroon midfielder Landry N’Guemo admits he is hoping to return to French Ligue 1 as quickly as possible.
The 28-year-old footballer is currently out of contract having been released by Bordeaux, and he admits he is very surprised by the new situation.
“I find myself in an unprecedented situation. It’s not easy to take it mentally, but I do not feel sorry for myself, I remain positive,” the Cameroon star told L’Est Republicain.
N’Guemo had agreed a three-year deal with newly-promoted Lens in the summer, but the transfer fell through as les Sang et Or were forbidden from signing new players.
The player hopes the issue will be resolved quickly, allowing him to return to French Ligue 1.
“I remain positive, I trust RC Lens and Gervais Martel (Lens chairman), who said a solution would be found.
”I cannot wait to play again and I really hope it will be at Lens, where I was wonderfully received.”
Landry N’Guemo has spent the majority of his career in France, making a total of 184 Ligue 1 appearances for Nancy and Bordeaux, scoring 6 goals in the process.
The Cameroon international enjoyed a very successful loan spell at Celtic during the 2009/2010 season, starting 30 SPL matches as well as nine European fixtures. He also made one appearance for Cameroon at the 2014 World Cup.
