A report from the Daily Mail suggests that Eidur Gudjohnsen could be playing Major League Soccer this season and is on the verge of signing for Seattle Sounders and is currently on trial at the club.
The 33-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by Greek side AEK Athens and he is now looking for a new challenge in the final stages of his career.
The striker is best known for his time at Chelsea in the English Premier League, where he won two titles. He then joined La Liga giants Barcelona in 2006.
There is no doubt that on his day, the Iceland international is still a top-class forward and a fantastic footballer that can be a joy to watch.
Gudjohnsen will look at what the likes of David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Robbie Keane have all done in the MLS and will want to emulate their success.
If the trial does not go well at Seattle though, there could be a few European clubs keen on securing his services, especially if they did manage to sign the players they wanted to in the transfer window.
The former Chelsea man has also played for Tottenham, Fulham, Bolton and Stoke in England’s top flight.
