Former Fiorentina midfielder signs for Parma

Parma have completed the signing of midfielder Massimo Gobbi on a free transfer from Serie A rivals Fiorentina. Gobbi, 29, was out of contract after being released by La Viola at the end of last season.

Milan born Gobbi rose through the youth ranks at AC Milan before signing for Pro Sesto in 1998. A season later, he moved to Treviso. He also had short loan stints with Giugliano and AlbinoLeffe before joining Cagliari in 2004. In the summer of 2006, he left the Sardinian outfit to join Fiorentina.

Gobbi has earned one cap for Italy at international level- against Croatia in 2006. He primarily plays on the left side of midfield but can also play as a left back if required.
