Former Hull and Manchester City forward Geovanni has joined MLS outfit San Jose Earthquakes. The 30 year old Brazilian was a free agent following Hull’s relegation to the Championship at the end of the 09/10 season. San Jose also announced that Geovanni would be their designated player, meaning that his salary would not be subject to the MLS wage cap.
Geovanni is a versatile forward who can play on both wings as well as a striker. He started his career with Cruzeiro and had a loan spell with America before joining Spanish giants Barcelona in 2001. He transferred to Benfica in 2003 following a successfull loan stint with the Eagles.
In 2006, he returned to Brazil and played for Cruzeiro before again deciding to cross the Atlantic by signing for Man City.
