James Ward-Prowse has been a stand-out performer for Southampton this season, but his efforts have been in vain. With two matches left to play, the Saints’ relegation has been mathematically confirmed.
The 28-year-old has never played for any other club, but former Tottenham Hotspur, Hull City and Nottingham Forest defender Michael Dawson expects plenty of suitors to come calling for his services this summer, and despite Ward-Prowse being contracted to Southampton until 2026, it’ll be very hard for the club to keep hold of their captain. He is simply too good to be playing in the Championship.
