Competition: Scottish Premier League
Market: Steve Clarke to be next Celtic manager
Odds: 4/6 @ Ladbrokes
Following the news of previous favourite Roy Keane turning down the chance to manage Celtic in order to resume his role with the Republic of Ireland, ex-West Brom head coach Steve Clarke is now the frontrunner.
The 50-year-old has worked with Liverpool & Chelsea as assistant manager, while going it alone at West Brom for just over a year. The Scot is said to be keen on a return to management, and a chance to manage the Scottish Premier League champions is something he’d find difficult to turn down.
As a result, Ladbrokes are giving odds of 4/6 for Clarke to be the next Bhoys manager this summer. There are still other names in the mix, however, with ex-Cardiff manager Malky Mackay and former Wigan boss Owen Coyle two names among the bookies’ favourites.
Celtic are expected to win the 2014/15 Scottish Premier League title regardless of who they have in charge, so it could be a good thing to have on the CV for a manager whose reputation has been slightly damaged.
