Foster out, Carson in for England

Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster will miss England’s Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales on Saturday due to a throat infection.

Foster, 27, was withdrawn from the squad once his illness was revealed and has been replaced by West Bromwich Albion custodian Scott Carson.Carson will now deputise for Foster for Saturday’s match at the Millennium Stadium and England’s home friendly against Ghana at Wembley on Tuesday.Foster becomes the second Birmingham shot-stopper to leave international squads through injury or illness, with back-up keeper Maik Taylor withdrawing from the Northern Ireland squad with a shoulder injury earlier this week.
