(GSM) – A very entertaining clash between Velez Sarsfield and Boca Juniors, in the Argentinian Primera Division, had a 4-4 draw as result.
Buenos Aires’ Jose Amalfitani stadium was the setting of the capital city derby, in which Velez were first to take the lead through Victor Zapata in the 12th minute.
Boca replied with an equaliser from Fabian Monzon in the 36th, and Martin Palermo even put the guests ahead three minutes later.
When Osvaldo Gaitan made it 1-3 ten minutes after the break, it looked like Boca were on their way to a very welcome victory.
But Velez then began a come-back with Santiago Silva (62nd) and Juan Martinez (74th) balancing the encounter. Silva then added another to even put Velez back in the lead with eight minutes to go.
But it was not enough for the hosts to take the three points as Boca’s Gary Medel netted for 4-4 in the 88th minute.
Velez move into first place but are likely to lose their top spot when their rivals play later this week. Boca are stuck in tenth position.
