Bayern Munich have been contemplating going back for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha after they failed to sign the Fulham midfielder last summer, as well as moving for Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad as another option. According to SportBild journalist Christian Falk, they’ve now added two new names to the list of candidates, Adrien Rabiot of Juventus, and Argentinos Juniors’ Federico Redondo.
All in all, these four players represent an interesting mixture of youth and experience. Palhinha, who will have four years on his contract when the season ends, is 28, as is Rabiot, whose contract expires this year. Zubimendi, 25, is tied to Sociedad until 2027, and Redondo, 21, should be available on a free transfer, just like Rabiot.
Bayern’s need for squad reinforcements has become rather obvious. The reigning Bundesliga champions were beaten 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena on Saturday, and the gap in Leverkusen’s favour at the top of the table now stands five points wide.
