Scotland boss George Burley will have to do with out four players who have withdrawn from the squad for the friendly against Japan on Saturday.

Former England Under-21 international and Celtic left-back Danny Fox is out after being called up for the first time since switching allegiance.

He was joined by Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson, Birmingham striker Garry O’Connor and Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass in pulling out.

Hearts left-back Lee Wallace was called up as a replacement and Burley was expected to draft more players later Monday.

The manager had built a new-look squad for the October 10 Kirin Challenge Cup and urged newcomers to prove they can cut it on the international stage.
