Setanta Sports reports that Robbie Fowler is on the verge of completing a one year pay-as-you-play deal move to Blackburn Rovers, after Cardiff revealed he received an offer from Paul Ince.
Ince reportedly is willing to take his former team-mate, now 33 years old, once he can prove his fitness. Cardiff has confirmed they have agreed to release the former Liverpool striker, who scored six goals in an injury-disrupted season last year.
A statement carried on Cardiff’s official website said, “Late on Thursday night Robbie Fowler informed us that he has been offered the opportunity to join Blackburn Rovers. We fully understand that the lure of The Premier League was a major factor in his decision and wish Robbie well in the future at his new club.â€Â
At his best, Fowler was arguably the most natural finisher the Premier League has ever seen. He sits fourth in the Premier League all-time goal-scorers list on 161 goals, needing 14 more to surpass Thierry Henry in third.
