Competition: UEFA Nations League
Market: France win
Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport
Looking to make it two in two when they return to Paris on Tuesday night, France will welcome Croatia to the Stade de France on Nations League duties in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, while they might have once again struggled to find top gear out in Stockholm over the weekend, France managed to open this year’s Nations League campaign with a 1-0 win on foreign soil. Glad to see attacking talisman Kylian Mbappe bag his 14th international strike on Saturday night, the reigning world champions have collected 22 points over their last eight matchups across all competitions and managed to clinch top spot on route to next year’s delayed European Championships. Looking to make it two in two on home soil in midweek, Didier Deschamps’ men should also be boosted by their famous last meeting against Tuesday’s guests. When the two nations last met in the World Cup Final out in Russia two years ago, France secured a 4-2 win and managed to lift their second world title.
As for the visitors, while France might have managed to open this year’s Nations League with three points on the road, the same cannot be said for a Croatia side continuing to show their issues either side of the enforced break. Blown away thanks to a 4-1 drumming away against defending champions Portugal and lucky to have only shipped a quartet of strikes out in Porto over the weekend, the Blazers have a real reputation for their issues on the road. Including that thumping defeat against the Reds on Saturday night, Croatia could also only end their qualifying campaign with back-to-back sluggish 1-1 draws against Azerbaijan and Wales. Now managing to win just one of their last nine matchups outside of Zagreb, including a shock 2-1 defeat away at Hungary last year, we’re backing another tough night for Zlatko Dalić’s men.
