France midfielder Yohan Cabaye believes he and his team-mates can prove head coach Laurent Blanc wrong when Euro 2012 gets underway.
Blanc has said he feels there is a lack of experience in the French midfield as the countdown continues to the head coach naming his 23-man squad for the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.
Cabaye, who has played 10 times for his country, believes that with more games the midfield will continue to grow.
“We, the midfielders, we work hard, we gain experience after every game we play with the national team,” Cabaye said.
“That’s the only way to get this experience – playing the games and the competitions.
“There is no way you can say you have experience if you are not on the pitch.”
France were eliminated at the group stage of the 2010 World Cup and then lost their next two matches.
Since then, France have put together an 18-game unbeaten streak under Blanc’s guidance.
But defender Patrice Evra has denied the World Cup is a source of inspiration for the current squad.
“It’s not with what happened (during the 2010 World Cup) that we can build our present or our future,” Evra said.
“I don’t feel I have a revenge to take.
“I just want to play for my country, give my best and that’s it, to win something with my country.”
The Manchester United full-back is keen to get a good result in France’s first group match against England.
“This will be the first game of the Euro and, except if you reach the final, this is the most important game because if you lose it, you may start thinking about being eliminated,” Evra said.
“If you draw, then you may play the second game with fear.
“So I think this is the most important game.
“And on a personal note, it will also be difficult for me to go back to Manchester if I lose against England.”
