Franck Ribery set for Bayern stay

French daily newspaper L’Equipe claims that veteran winger Franck Ribery will be staying with Bayern Munich beyond the current season.

The 33-year-old has a contract until June 2017, but despite being one of the highest earners at the club, he will not be allowed to leave.

Bayern Munich chiefs have been quite happy with the winger’s performances since he returned from injury and they are ready to offer him a new contract.

The new deal will be officially signed at the club’s annual general meeting next week, as the agreement has already been reached.

Ribery plans to end his career when his new contract comes to an end in June 2018, after which he will remain at Allianz Arena, taking over as a coach of Under-9 or Under-11 side.

The Frenchman has proved to be one of the best signings in club’s history, having scored 72 Bundesliga goals since joining from Marseille back in 2007.
