FC Cartagena have given French defender Franck Signorino an opportunity to resurrect his career by signing him from La Liga club Getafe. Signorino joined Getafe from Nantes in 2007, but made only a handful of appearances for the club in a little over two and a half years. His cause was not helped by a tibia injury that kept him on the sidelines for the 2008-09 season.

Signorino started his career with Metz and made close to 150 league appearances for them before switching to Nantes in 2005. He expressed his desire to leave Nantes at the end of the 2006-07 season following the Canaries’ relegation to Ligue 2 and was courted by the likes of Deportivo, Birmingham City and Newcastle United.

He eventually signed for Getafe in the summer of 2007 but stated his desire to leave the club in December that year after failing to win the confidence of then coach Michael Laudrup.
