Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini has all but suggested that he is powerless to prevent star player Franco Vazquez from leaving the club.
The new Italy international formed one of the best attacking partnerships in Serie A with Paulo Dybala last season, and the only reason he stayed is because the Rosanero didn’t want to lose both of their key men.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old remains on the radar of quite a few top sides and Palermo face a real battle to keep hold of his services.
The Rosanero president Maurizio Zamparini has made it clear that Vazquez will not be leaving in the upcoming transfer window, albeit hinting that the summer exit was on the cards.
“Vazquez will definitely stay until June, then it depends on how we want to build Palermo for the next year,” the controversial chairman told Radio Anch’io lo Sport.
“It’s difficult to tie down players with chains who receive offers in the mercato of salaries three times higher than what they get here.”
Franco Vazquez was in stunning form last term, having managed 10 goals and as many assists in 37 Serie A outings, while he has one goal and 4 assists in 14 appearances this season.
