Sean Franklin was delighted to be the first Los Angeles Galaxy player to ever win the Major League Soccer’s Rookie of the Year award.
Franklin is currently on international duty with the United States national team.
“It has been a big week, a very exciting week for me and for my family,” Franklin said. “I’m really excited where I’m at right now.
“From the beginning to the end of the year, I’ve gotten better and have grown in confidence mostly because of my teammates. They help me on the field … and want the best for me and for the team.
“That’s where my confidence comes from, other people letting me know that I am doing a good job and to just keep working hard. It’s helped me out a lot. It’s what got me through this year and helped me have a pretty good first year.”
He added: “I just went out and just played every game hard, whether I was a rookie or not wasn’t something that was on the back of my mind. As the year did go on I was getting more comfortable and used to playing.”
