Vancouver Whitecaps have announced the signing of Colombian forward Fredy Montero from Tianjin Teda.
The former Sporting CP star arrives on a season-long loan and he can be seen as a marquee signing for the MLS side.
Oddly enough, it was former Vancouver Whitecaps winger Mauro Rosales who recommended Montero as he knew head coach Carl Robinson had been on the lookout for a new number nine.
The Colombian has already left his mark in the MLS, bagging 47 goals for Seattle Sounders before joining Sporting CP in the summer of 2013.
Montero went on to score 27 goals in 67 league outings for the Lions, but was then sold to Tianjin Teda after losing his place in the side.
The return of 9 goals in 29 league matches was clearly not enough for the Chinese side to keep hold of his services as the striker now returns to the United States.
