Algerian newspaper Le Buteur is reporting that Marseille and Monaco are locked in the battle for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
The Algeria hotshot is being heavily linked with a summer exit and it looks as though he could be moving to French Ligue 1.
Le Buteur has suggested that Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa see Slimani as a good replacement for Andre-Pierre Gignac, who is set to complete a move to Tigres.
However, Monaco are also keen on his services, having stayed without Dimitar Berbatov, although the Principality club are showing interest in Fernando Llorente as well.
Islam Slimani, 27, joined Sporting Lisbon from Belouizdad two years ago and he quickly developed into an important player for the Lions.
After scoring 8 goals in 26 matches during his debut season, the striker went on to net 12 times in 21 league outings last term, and he is currently valued at €10 million.
