Goals from debutant Danny Wilson, Kris Commons and James Mackie had the hosts in control of the match at the break, and despite not adding to their tally they dominated the remainder of the game.

Manager Craig Levein gave debuts to seven players for the match as Scotland looked to rebuild their confidence after back-to-back losses against the Czech Republic and Spain in recent Euro 2012 qualifiers.

There were few chances early on, but the Faroe Islands gave the hosts a scare on eight minutes when Jann Ingi Petersen’s free kick beat Craig Gordon but came back off the cross bar.

The visitors were playing 10 men behind the ball and frustrating the Scots, but the hosts went ahead when Liverpool defender Wilson poked the ball home after receiving a pass from Charlie Adam on 24 minutes.

Another debutant, Aston Villa’s Barry Bannan, then hit the post before Derby striker Commons made it 2-0 when he flicked home a low cross with Blackpool midfielder Adam again the provider.

Queens Park Rangers striker Mackie made it three on the stroke of half-time when he finished from close range after Steven Caldwell had headed down Bannan’s deep cross.

Scotland had more opportunities in the second half with Bannan and Shaun Maloney both missing clear-cut chances, but Levein would no doubt have been pleased with the display from his side.

In other friendly action on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia?were held to?a scoreless draw against Uganda in Abu Dhabi and?Jordan continued their build-up to the 2011 Asian Cup with a 0-0 draw at home to Cyprus.
