Germany midfielder Torsten Frings has decided against retiring from international football and wants to win back his place for the friendly against England at Berlin's Olympic Stadium next month.

“I will continue to fight and look for my chance,” said Frings on Sunday having been dropped by Germany coach Joachim Loew for the World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Wales earlier this month.

“I would like to persuade Joachim Loew to let me achieve success with his team.”

Having played in the 2002 World Cup final and helped Germany reach the Euro 2008 final, Frings, 31, has a wealth of experience with 78 caps for die Mannschaft.

But he failed to hide his huge disappointment after being relegated to the bench against Russia in Dortmund on October 11.

Although he made a late appearance in the 2-1 victory he played no part in the 1-0 win over Wales four days later and in the following days he hinted at retirement, but has since changed his mind.

“I had to give myself time in order to give the situation some clarity,” said Frings.

“Playing for my country is something unusual and special and something I would also like to do in the future.”

Germany's next game is the friendly against England on November 19, but the German Football Federation (DFB) refused to comment on whether the Werder Bremen star – who has apparently attracted interest from English Premiership side Manchester City – will be involved.
