Frustrated Ghana coach blasts Balotelli

(GSM) – Milan Rajevac has launched a stinging attack on Mario Balotelli. The clearly frustrated Ghana coach said that Balotelli ‘won’t play for me or for Italy.’

The African nation hoped to persuade the Internazionale striker to play for them at the World Cup. Although Balotelli is a regular for the Italian national side at Under-21 level, his biological parents are Ghanaian which would make him eligible for selection.

However, the Black Stars have reportedly been rebuffed by the promising youngster on two previous occasions and Rajevac won’t make the mistake of asking him for a third time.

“As long as I continue to be the Coach of Ghana, Mario will never get to play for my team,” a frustrated Rajevac said. “We have treated him with very soft and tender gloves in the past.

“This time it won’t happen. Mario should forget it. Nobody will go over and talk to him to change his decision.

“I have no place for him so he can go ahead and dream of playing for the Azzurri which I know he won’t get.”

There are calls for Balotelli to be included in Italy’s World Cup squad but boss Marcello Lippi has yet to select him.

“I have listened to the conversation very carefully,” added Rajevac. “It seems to me that he has already made up his mind.

“Fair enough, but that only solves half of his problem. He was talking as if, the next day, he is going to be allowed to wear the jersey of the Azzurri.

“It doesn’t happen that way. Balotelli has a long way to go. If he thinks by snubbing Ghana he would be winning the heart of Lippi, then I am sorry, it won’t happen.

“We are partly to blame. In the past, we made him look like our Messiah and saviour. We kept going after him with high powered delegations.

“All these made it seem as though there won’t be any Black Stars without him. But that is not true.

“Everybody knows how Ghana has players in excess. To put it bluntly – this Black Stars team is spoilt for choice. The team has quality in excess and has no place for guys like Balotelli.”

Lippi will this weekend name his squad for the Cameroon friendly on Wednesday. Balotelli is not expected to be a part of it.
