Christian Fuchs’ agent has played down reports linking the Schalke full-back with a move to Barcelona.
According to a report in the Catalan press, Barca have identified the Austria international as a potential replacement for Eric Abidal, who is this week expected to undergo a liver transplant and faces an uncertain future in the game.
Fuchs’ agent Thomas Bohm feels his client should be flattered by the interest of the Spanish champions, but has warned the 25-year-old against getting his hopes up.
“I’ve heard nothing and I cannot imagine (it’s true),” Bohm told Kurier.
“But it says a lot about Christian’s strengths that he is being mentioned in a major newspaper from Barcelona as a candidate (to succeed Abidal).”
Fuchs only arrived at Schalke last year from Bochum, after a season-long loan at Mainz.
